Official Steve Jobs biography coming in 2012!

Could Steve Jobs have agreed to an official biography? According to Simon & Schuster, he has indeed with the book arriving in early 2012.

Walter Isaacson’s “iSteve: The Book of Jobs” will be published in early 2012. Isaacson has been working on the long-rumored biography since 2009 and has interviewed Jobs, members of his family, colleagues at Apple and competitors.

Having read several of the un-authorized biographies and having listened to Jobs Stanford commencement speech, I’m very much looking forward to this. The story of the man who helped mainstream the CLI (Apple II), GUI (Mac), Multitouch (iPhone and iPad), digital music (iTunes), 3D animation (Pixar), Apple Retail, and more, with his support and input? Yes please.

Only question is iBooks or iTunes audio book?

An Unofficial GameSalad Textbook is a nice resource to have, but it definitely needs some editing and a redesign to be worth the high price.

The Buddy Reading System uses Game Center to connect two devices for audio communication. What this means for parents and their children is that you can read the storybook with your child even when you aren’t there.

Using Game Center for a storybook app, Peter Rabbit: Buddy Edition certainly opens up appealing possibilities for traveling parents. It requires initial setup, directions for which are plainly provided in the app. They may appear a bit complex initially, but tech-savvy parents can figure it out. After that, in order to read with your child, you set up the book by selecting the Buddy Reading option from the menu and following prompts. (Young children will require assistance from someone on their end.) Once the Game Center invite is sent and accepted, you can then read the story and control the page turning from your end while your child looks and listens on theirs.

Amazon released the Kindle for iPhone app this week, and it is free!  This is fairly surprising since the Amazon Kindle 2 just started shipping within the past few days or so.  This free app allows you to sync any Kindle purchases from your Amazon online account with the iPhone app.

Amazon claims they have over 240,000 different titles available for immediate download to your Amazon Kindle for iPhone app, with most books available for $9.99.
